A different take on Bruges - Street Photography

My wife and I had a short break in Bruges for Christmas 2015. most of the photos taken were typical holiday snaps of my wife and I. However, I managed (craftily) to photograph a little street, I guess I couldn't help myself being a documentary wedding photographer and all ;)

These photographs are of real moments - spontaneous moments. My favourite shots are probably the two Santas having a quick cigarette break, or the girl admiring the cakes of the patisserie shop through the window, with the worker smiling.

I  have to admit, Bruges is so beautiful at Christmas (and most probably any time of the year) I could easily retire here.

Kindest, Lee

My gorgeous wife that kindly agreed to marry me this year :)

Birmingham street photography - Fuji X-T1

Street photography in Birmingham - shooting from the hip

Early August I had the real pleasure in meeting with a group of photographers to do some street photography. The venue "Birmingham City" a place so diverse and big it pretty much guarantees at least a few interesting candid images.

We met up nice an early and set off to the streets to capture life as it happens (Just like wedding photography) What I love about street photography is that nothing is controlled or arranged or directed. I met some really great people on this day, and has certainly ignited my love for street photography.

Here a select few of my favourites from the day...

Fuji X-T1 - Edinburgh Fringe

Street photography with the Fuji X-T1 - Edinburgh Fringe

Edinburgh

Edinburgh

What a fantastic City Edinburgh is...... I was lucky enough to catch the last few days of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and I knew it would be a fantastic opportunity to do some much needed street photography. I packed a very light kit bag using just the Fuji X-T1 camera and one lens the 35mm f1.4 (Perfect) and set off for the 7 hour drive to join in the fun.

As you can imagine the festival was full of golden opportunities capturing candid images. I apply the same principles to my street photography as I do in my documentary wedding photography, its all about patience and waiting for the optimal moment.

There were obviously tons and tons of awesome street performances, from comedy and singing to the wonderful majestic crystal globe dancing.

A few of my favourite images from the festival, Enjoy
